Secretary to the Village Manager
I've been with the Village for 6 months now, dealing with all sorts of admin functions. I assist the Village Manager with administrative detail, personnel procedures and general secretarial duties; I provide constituent services to residents; I gather various background materials for Village board meetings and work sessions, and I compose agendas. I also maintain the Village website and post content on multiple social media accounts. I take on special projects as assigned, including upgrading website software to Drupal, converting all older meeting minutes to an online searchable platform, and more generally upgrading our system to the 21st century.

Q&A with this municipal champion
When I was 15, I started working in the Recreation Department doing summer jobs in Hastings. I've been in government ever since!
When I got to Croton, the Village was already using SeamlessGov. Part of my job was to keep the project going, which entailed figuring out what forms had already been digitized, which new forms needed to be created, etc. My Success Manager Gina and I got right to work!
The Village decided to go paperless for a couple of reasons: 1. As part of a green initiative to use less paper, 2. The convenience for working residents who can't make it to office working hours, and 3. Bringing permits and registrations online was a huge help to both citizens who need to submit the applications and for staff who need to process submissions.

Implementation was very smooth! Gina was helpful talking through the steps and she helped bring the first couple of forms online. SeamlessGov offered resources that really helped me get trained, and I really enjoyed seeing how other municipalities had used SeamlessDocs to digitize their forms. Seeing how other people had done it helped me drive the initiative in Croton.
My favorite form that has been transformed is the Banner Application. Previously it was a paper form, delivered in person at Village Hall. Then we would have to go down to the Department of Public Works office, where it was processed then sent back to the Village Hall office. That's a lot of transmitting for one form! The form would be mailed from one place to the other; mailed back and forth each time! Now we're able to have everything done electronically with signature approvals on the form. That's a couple of hours saved per form!
The approval signature process is a game changer. The ability to automatically route the form from one signature to the next is great. It establishes an electronic record of accountability, where you can see when and by whom the form was signed off.
There's lots of opportunities with SeamlessGov. I struggled with departments who were resistant to change, who were hanging onto their paper processes. By now, 4 departments in the Village are using SeamlessGov, but even after years not everyone is on board yet! For those departments who aren't yet users, let them know SeamlessGov would save time and be an added resource for residents. That really helped get our 4 departments on-board; once they started using the platform they liked it a lot and realized it was a great idea!
