Anissa Di Vincente is the Webmaster for Culver City California. She is a California native, a graduate of UCLA and has held her position with the City for 13 years. She is also a Zumba Fitness Instructor and has worked on or with websites her whole career. The way she performs her duties as Webmaster is one of the reasons Government is Beautiful!

Q&A with this municipal champion

How did you get involved with local government?

Previously I was working as a contractor and looking for a change - I wanted predictability and stability. As a Webmaster in government, we want to make things easier to find and make things look better and make thing more readable. In our department the mission is - "Let's make life easier for citizens."

How did you first hear about SeamlessDocs?

I was contacted by one of your representatives and after hearing what you do, it was like "Oh we can do that - oh that would be cool!" At first we wanted to use SeamlessGov just for the website but now we're doing it for internal forms and even more recently some advanced workflows.

Why did you decide to go paperless?

Primarily, going paperless is about saving resources which being environment-friendly is very important to me. But also ease of use! Why should someone have to go waste time by going to fax or mail something or bring it in. It's ridiculous. I'm always asked for W9 and I9s. Why am I wasting paper for something I'm just gonna email back? One of the versions was a copy or something and someone had filled it in. In one version of Internet Explorer, you'd see the submission blank, and some you'd see it filled in - it was a disaster.

What was implementation like?

Implementation was so easy. We did have a basic user training to walk people through the system, but truly it was extremely easy. I've given people access and they've figured most of it out on their own. In terms of resources, I'm most impressed with information on the forms and cool use cases WE DON'T USE. Basically inspiration for new feature usage or use cases for us.

One form or process that's been changed by SeamlessDocs?

SeamlessGov's backend has definitely changed our processes. With our IT Notification form, a member of the IT staff or City Hall staff fill it out based on hiring needs. Then one person in IT tags the submission and makes sure it gets managed. Because of that label and trigger, the one person who routes the form would know when stuff is complete and thus is given peace of mind.

Favorite SeamlessGov Feature?

I love the GRM™. When it was released it was really exciting that we could do triggers and tags on our forms and workflow processes. Also I love a wizard for a PDF form.. and then using Conditional Form Logic based off of that!

Advice for another municipality just starting out with SeamlessDocs?

Know what you want to do with the product first and foremost. Figuring out how to get SeamlessGov working is pretty easy - it's more about just having a plan of what you want to accomplish first.
