How to Convert PDFs into Fillable Online Forms

SeamlessDocs’ government forms platform allows you to convert any PDF into an interactive, online form.

Here at SeamlessDocs, we specialize in converting PDF Forms into online fillable forms, but one question we often get is “how?” In this guide we’ll show you exactly how SeamlessDocs can bring all your PDFs to the cloud and convert them into interactive, fillable forms online.

As soon as you sign up for a SeamlessDocs account, you’ll have the option to start converting your PDFs right away. Simply sign into the lobby using your SeamlessDocs account and you’ll be prompted to convert any existing PDF into an online form!

We’ll start with a common government form - an open records request form from the Dallas Police Department. Note how this PDF form has to be printed, filled out manually, and either scanned or mailed to the appropriate location - there’s no option to fill it out or submit online.

Once you upload the PDF onto the SeamlessDocs lobby (which literally takes a second), you’re taken to the Doc Editor, where you can customize your PDF form. The first thing you’ll notice is that the Doc Editor can automatically detect fields on your uploaded PDF, so you don’t have to manually input every single field. SeamlessDocs’ patented algorithm does all the heavy lifting for you. Just upload any existing PDF, and our software will instantly convert your old PDF into a smart SeamlessDoc that can be submitted from any device anytime with eSignatures, attachments and payment.

The Doc Editor allows you to auto-detect fields on your form.

You can then populate our form with the necessary form features, including checkboxes, radio buttons, extra text fields, and date pickers.

Finally, the Doc Editor includes the option to add signature fields to your PDF. Now, your PDFs can be legally signed online, removing the need for printing and paper signatures. A government form no longer has to be passed from applicant to clerk to approver for manual signatures, because all of the required signers can access the form and sign.

Starting with a PDF form that had to be printed and manually filled out, in just a few minutes you created a form that can be filled out, signed, and submitted online. You can check out what the final product looks like, and we’ll leave it to you to decide which form you would rather fill out.
